Half Day Whitewater

Float down the beautiful Middle Fork of the Flathead River on a whitewater adventure!  This 3-hour trip begins approximately 8 miles upstream from the West Entrance to Glacier National Park and ends back in the village of West Glacier.  This section of the river holds Class II and III named rapids.  Later in the summer, these same rapids can be reduced to class I and II rapids that still produce good quality splashy fun.

The Middle Fork of the Flathead River is dependent on the snowpack up in the mountains and is a free-flowing river.   Early in the season, we experience higher water, producing a more adrenaline-filled adventure.  Later in the summer, the river slows down as the water levels lower.  This is a perfect time to take families with younger children.

The first portion of the trip is a scenic float through the glacially carved flats, winding along the southwestern edge of Glacier National Park.  Then you enter a beautiful canyon with some fun rapids and deep pools in the crystal-clear waters.  Keep an eye out for wildlife and the Native West Slope Cutthroat trout swimming by you as you and your guide navigate the river.  On warm days, many guests take the opportunity to take a dip in the  waters and swim around.  At the end of your trip, there is a short uphill walk to the road, which will take you back to where you checked in.

Check-in at Glacier Raft Company in the Village of West Glacier ½ hour prior to trip departure. The trip ends at the bridge in West Glacier where you will regain your land legs during a short walk back to our office, your car, dry clothes, and a chance to purchase trip photos and souvenirs!

Great company, wonderful guide!

I've rafted with Glacier Raft multiple times. Each time has been great. The guides are personable and welcoming. Recently I had LP as my guide. He was professional and funny with tons of knowledge about the area.

Had a blast with Glacier Raft

My family took an afternoon trip down the Middle Fork with Russell. The whole crew was fun and experienced. Russell as a guide was very knowledgeable about the area and kept us in the boat. I’d highly recommend this trip.

Totally Awesome!

I’ve been rafting a bunch over the years and had an awesome time on the river with Glacier. Our guide Kendra was the coolest person I have ever rafted with. She really knows her stuff.
