New Fly Shop Manager–Meet John!

We would like to formally introduce our new Fly Shop Manager, John Malison.

Before John started at the Glacier Outdoor Center, he spent the last three years with the University of Montana as an Assistant Scientist working on salmon research based out of a remote field camp in Alaska.  During the holiday season he runs his own business “Bigfork Custom Wreaths”.  You can find his wreaths at and sells fresh, handmade Montana wreaths both locally and across the US.

Before this he was a fly fishing guide for Henry’s Fork Anglers, based out of Island Park Idaho guiding on the South Fork of the Snake, Henry’s Fork, Madison and in Yellowstone National Park.

He attained a Master’s Degree from Idaho State University in Instructional Technology, and his Bachelor’s in Business from the University of Montana.

In his spare time he likes to fly fish, hunt, tie flies and scheme his next winter trip to a warmer destination.

We are very excited to have John join our team and have already had a blast working with him!  Currently he is helping set up the Outdoor Center and learning about all the gear we sell.
