Trip of the Week – Ride and Raft

We’re getting pretty excited about the upcoming summer and want to share our excitement with you. Every week until our season starts, we’ll share one of our river trips with you. So be sure to tune into our blog each week to find out about each of our trips and find the perfect one for you and your friends or family!

Our third trip is the Ride and Raft:

These trips exemplify the Montana experience!  Blend the rugged beauty of a horseback trip just outside of Glacier National Park with a pristine river trip on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River for the perfect adventure.
This trip departs at 8:30am (check in no later than 7:45am) for the horseback ride and 1:30pm for a whitewater or 2:00pm for a scenic float OR the trip departs at 10am for a whitewater or scenic float and 3:30pm (check in no later than 2:45pm) for the horseback ride. Horseback portion of the trip departs from Swan Mountain Outfitters corral in West Glacier (based on availability) just outside the west entrance to Glacier National Park. Check in 45 minutes prior to trip departure.
Lunch on your own between trips.
Rafting portion of the trip departs from Glacier Raft Company in the Village of West Glacier. Check in 30 minutes prior to trip departure. The trip ends at the bridge in West Glacier where you will regain your land legs during a short walk back to our office, your car, dry clothes, and a chance to purchase trip photos and souvenirs!

Trip Length: Horseback ride 3 hours (including pre-trip orientation)
Raft ride approx 3 hours (whitewater or scenic option)
Departure Dates: Late May through mid-September
River Rating: II-III (Class III-IV in June and early July, when the whitewater is at its peak; by late July the rapids have moderated to fun-filled Class II-III).
River Miles: 8 miles
Recognized Rapids: 9 rapids
Age Limit: Horseback Ride: 7+
Rafting: 8-10 in early June, 6 in July, 4-5 by mid-August

Weight Limit:Rates: 250 pounds for horseback ride
Adult: $105*
Youth(12 & under): $95*
prices do not include 7% service fee
Lunch not included

What to bring:
Water
Sunglasses
Wear sunscreen and bug spray
Inhalers, EpiPen, etc.
Camera (for pictures before the ride)
Dress in layers (including rain gear)
Note: pommel bags big enough for a water bottle are provided

Limitations and Restrictions:
No children under the age of 7
No riders under 48″ tall
No riders over 250 lbs
Riders must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. No sandals!
NO cameras (digital, video or any other kind) may be used while riding, cell phones, backpacks, fanny packs, weapons, bear spray, alcohol, smoking
